✨ My Favourite Ceremonial Cacao Recipe

A Heart-Opening Daily Ritual

There is something about the act of preparing Cacao that feels like a return to stillness, to reverence, to the heartbeat of the Earth.

Cacao has become a staple in my own practice — a loving ally in the mornings, before women's circles, or simply when I want to drop deeper into my own body. It's not just a drink — it's a ceremony in a cup.

Here is the cacao blend I come back to again and again. It’s creamy, rich, gently sweetened, and infused with intention.

I feel called to share that while Cacao in the jungle is traditionally made with just hot water… adding these ingredients can make for a much more flavourful and pleasant experience! Truth be told, I never enjoyed ‘chocolate’ growing up, but through making this a delicious elixir, I look so forward to sitting and sipping.

My Favourite Ceremonial Cacao Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp of ceremonial-grade Cacao

  • 1–2 Tbsp of maple syrup (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tsp of coconut butter (I love Nutiva’s Coconut Manna) — optional

  • 1 ¼ cups of macadamia nut milk (I prefer Milkadamia Unsweetened)
    – for a nut-free version, oat milk works beautifully

Optional Additions

  • A dash of cayenne pepper for a gentle kick

  • ¼ tsp of vanilla extract for warmth

  • ¼ tsp of Maca powder

  • Dried rose petals to sprinkle on top — for heart magic

🌀 Directions

  1. Warm the milk. You can steam or froth it, or gently heat on the stove. If using the stovetop, keep it on low to medium heat — avoid boiling to preserve the cacao’s potency and taste.

  2. Blend it all together. Add the Cacao, maple syrup, coconut butter, vanilla, and cayenne to your blender or pot. Blend or whisk until silky smooth and deeply rich.

  3. Pour with intention. As you pour, breathe deeply. You might whisper a prayer, set an intention, or place a hand on your heart. If you have rose petals, sprinkle them on top as a visual reminder of beauty and softness.

💫 A Few Notes from My Practice

This recipe is perfect for solo rituals, journaling mornings, or sharing with a sister. If you're preparing for ceremony or meditation, I invite you to sit with your Cacao in stillness before you sip. Let it guide you inward.

Ceremony doesn’t have to be grand. Sometimes, it begins with a warm cup, a quiet space, and the simple decision to be present.
